RAYMT6U
The Raytek RAYMT6U is a non-contact MiniTemp infrared thermometer with a storage pouch.  This device has a -30 to 500°C (-20 to 932°F) temperature range and flashes on a large backlit digital display.

The non-contact thermometer safely measures hot, hard-to-reach, or moving parts by pointing to the surface and pulling the trigger.  This component helps prevent potential damage or contamination.

The RAYMT6U is suitable for use where temperature is a factor in the process, quality, or diagnostics.  Commonly used on doors or windows to spot costly energy loss, in the kitchen or workshop to monitor critical temperature, and on the environment to ensure safeness and comfort.
Accuracy ±1°C (2°F): 10 to 30°C (50 to 86°F)
Repeatability ±0.5% of reading or < ±1°C (±2°F)
Emissivity Pre-set 0.95
Optical Resolution 10:1 (Distance to Spot Size)
Spectral Response 6.5–18µm

A:

Emissivity is the measurement of a substance capacity to emit infrared energy.  The emitted energy also reveals the object's temperature.  Emissivity is measured by a value from 0 to 1.   Where zero is equal to a shiny mirror and 1.0 is a blackbody. Based on the data we have, the Raytek MT6U has a fixed preset to 0.95 emissivity.

The emissivity of skin is typically 0.98 and as your thermometer has is fixed to 0.95 the reading would be off.  Because emissivity changes with temperature and surface finish the 0.98 ok skin is simply a guideline.
